What is coaching, and how is it different than therapy?

Coaching is a forward-focused, insights-driven action-oriented process designed to guide you toward setting and achieving personal, professional, or spiritual goals. Unlike therapy, which often delves into understanding and healing past traumas or mental health concerns, coaching focuses on the present and future, helping you create actionable plans and strategies to reach your desired outcomes. While therapy diagnoses and treats, coaching motivates and guides you toward your potential.

Coaching focuses on setting goals, creating outcomes, and managing personal change, while therapy delves into emotional healing, resolving past issues, and addressing mental health concerns. However, there are times when the past needs to be discussed to overcome obstacles and limiting beliefs during coaching. Both are valuable, but they serve different purposes. Some people will have both a therapist and a coach and we are happy to work collaboratively with your current providers if you desire.

While some of our coaches are licensed medical doctors and counselors, the services and advice our coaches provide through New Wave Potential are not intended to be taken as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

How long does it typically take to see results from coaching?

The timeline for seeing results varies depending on your goals and commitment to the process. Many clients start to notice significant shifts within a few sessions, such as increased clarity, motivation, or confidence. Achieving larger goals often takes a few months of consistent coaching. Your coach will work with you to create a realistic plan and ensure steady progress toward your desired outcomes.

Is coaching right for me if I feel stuck but don’t have a specific goal yet?

Absolutely! Coaching is particularly effective for individuals who feel stuck or uncertain about their next steps. Are coaching sessions conducted online or in-person?

Currently, our coaches conduct all coaching sessions online via Zoom. This allows for flexibility and convenience, enabling clients to connect from the comfort of their own space while still receiving the same personalized and impactful coaching experience.
